Product Description

Hydraulic drilling choke valves are essential for controlling flow and pressure in oil and gas drilling and production operations. They are primarily used in wellhead and choke manifold systems, and their primary purpose is to control and regulate the flow of fluids (like drilling mud, oil, gas, and water) and to manage pressure within the wellbore.

The Enerpal hydraulic actuated drilling choke is actually a remotely operated pressure control valve. Its function in the system is to ensure pressure control during drilling operations and during a kick (blowout). The control pressure is moved by the hydraulic cylinder to change the relative position of the control element (valve core and valve seat).

The choke is fitted with a hydraulic actuator with double acting piston. During drilling operation it is necessary to know the control element position, the valve core, towards the seat. This information is shown at the drilling choke control panel, where the operator stands. The value shown at the panel represents the valve core displacement expressed in percents from the maximum value of the gate stroke. The system which indicates the valve core position consist, mainly, in a displacement sensor, LVDT type, attached to the choke stem and the indicator mounted on the drilling choke control panel.

The drilling choke valve adopts a hydraulic cylinder operating mechanism, which can remotely adjust the valve opening to adjust the fluid flow.It's designed for rugged environments and often incorporate features like tungsten carbide trim for wear resistance, pressure balanced designs for easier operation, and interchangeable components for flexibility. Drilling Choke Valves are designed to withstand harsh downhole conditions, including high pressures, abrasive fluids, and corrosive substances.
