The BOP test stump is welded on a larger base plate. There are 4 lifting lugs on the base plate for easy handling, which can meet the space restrictions during testing.
The test ports are distributed on the side of the top 6A flange, and the oil drain port is at the bottom of the test stump. The BOP test mandrel fixing thread in the center is replaceable or fixed.
Enerpal provides BOP test piles in various sizes, suitable for BOP testing and drilling testing operations. The product is designed and manufactured according to API 6A or API 16A standards.
Usually the body material of the upper flange is low alloy steel. For the purpose of applying the sour service requirements of NACE MR0175,we can weld 316 stainless steel or Inconel 625 alloy on the ring groove according to customer needs, which can improve corrosion resistance and extend product life.
The test stump mandrel fixing thread may be damaged or corroded after long-term use. Enerpal recommends a replaceable mandrel fixing thread design. The mandrel fixing thread is designed on a removable flange. Only the flange needs to be replaced without replacing the main body, which greatly reduces the maintenance cost.
The most commonly used mandrel fixing thread for BOP test stump is 3-1/2″IF(NC38) or 4-1/2″IF(NC50) . These two threads can be designed on the same model of removable flange for easy replacement.
The connection method of the BOP test stump can be customized according to the customer. It can be designed as flanged, studded, API 16A clamps and hubs. The test port thread has 1/2"NPT or 1-1/8"-12UNF-2B.
Application
- The primary function of a BOP test stump is to test the wellhead control equipment, ensuring it can withstand and contain pressures in the event of a wellhead blowout.
- During testing, the test stump is pressurized, and the pressure decay is monitored to detect leaks or malfunctions.
- The test stump provides a threaded and sealed connection where pressure gauges, pumps, and other testing equipment can be connected.
- BOP test stumps are designed and manufactured according to API 6A or API 16A standards. They may include features like base plates, side and bottom ports, and fixed or removable test mandrel retaining threads.
- BOP testing typically involves both low-pressure and high-pressure tests. Low-pressure tests are usually conducted first, followed by high-pressure tests to simulate wellhead conditions.
- Pressure testing with a test stump helps identify potential problems like leaks or malfunctions in the BOP equipment, allowing for necessary repairs or adjustments before actual wellhead operations.
